I have spent most of my career helping families at a crossroads. After earning my graduate degree, I spent 16 years working in the field of child welfare, primarily in Austin, Texas. I held positions as a foster care case manager, team leader, director, and guardian ad litem volunteer, supervisor, and team leader. By 2011, the legal side of the child welfare system piqued my interest, and after earning my paralegal certificate, I became a paralegal for an office representing children in child welfare cases.
I moved to Vermont in January 2014. From March 2014 until February 2020, I worked as a paralegal and practice manager at a busy Burlington firm, mostly on intellectual property and environmental matters. In March 2020, I moved to a family law firm in the Burlington area because of my desire to help families. I have been mediating since early 2021 and I started Another Way Mediation, LLC in July 2022. I am also a freelance paralegal with a Burlington firm.
I am currently the Pro Bono Chair and a past president of the Vermont Paralegal Organization (VPO). I also hold memberships with Vermont Family Mediators (VFaM), the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), the Vermont Bar Association (paralegal member), the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), and NALA. I volunteer as a paralegal with the legal clinic at Steps to End Domestic Violence in Burlington and I am a member of the Community Advisory Board of KidSafe Collaborative. I also volunteer at Feeding Chittenden.
